FAQ’S & Booking us

If you have any questions, here is the place to find the answers!

How do we book?
Firstly, let me know the package you prefer & any questions you may have.
If you are happy & wish to proceed, I’ll get a contract over to you detailing the package & payment options.
A £200 retainer/deposit will secure your date.
You are free to pay your balance in small parts up to 2 weeks before your wedding if it makes things easier to spread the cost too.

How do we pay after our wedding?
Lots of couples like to put some of of their wedding gift money towards their film, so with packages over £1000 you have the option to split your balance payment and pay half 2 weeks before your wedding and the other half afterwards.
There is no additional cost to do this, but you won’t be added to the editing queue until we receive your final payment.

Are you insured?
YES! OF COURSE! We have full Public Liability insurance, because we know that some venues won’t even let us on their premises without it.
We also have an A2CofC drone qualification alongside flight insurance for commercial operations.
These can be forwarded to your venue should they request them.

Will you turn up?
It would take A LOT for me not to get to your wedding!
I have a new car with 4WD because I’m so paranoid about ever missing a wedding due to breakdown or weather issues.
Obviously things like sickness, traffic or accidents on the way, or even worse could happen so there is never a guarantee.
But I have a great network of fellow Videographers around the country who I can ask at a moments notice to get someone to film your wedding should I not be able to get there.

What do you wear?
Usually, I have my go-to black shirt, black jeans and boots.
I have tried wearing a suit a few times, but whilst trying to be a secret filming Ninja they either end up getting ripped or filthy or both.
I know most couples realise the more comfortable we are the better we can do our job, but out of respect for a day that you have put so much effort into, I definitely won’t turn up in blue jeans, sportswear, backwards cap, hoodie or a T-Shirt 🙂

Will you interfere much in our day?
In a word, no.
My aim is for you to forget I’m even there. As long as I know where to be and the time to be there for the start of your day, you can literally just let me carry on and ignore me if you like. I won’t be offended.

My Photographer is worried about working with you…
I’ve worked alongside 100’s of Photographers now, and I always let them do their thing as they would if I wasn’t there, while I film your day as it unfolds.
I don’t require any extra time for your couple portrait session either, I can get my shots at the same time as your photographer, working with them to get the best images for you.
They love this way of working and I get so many recommendations from Photographers, there’s no need to worry.

How many Videographers will film my Wedding?
I pretty much always work on my own unless it’s a huge wedding of 200+ guests or we need both sides of prep covered in 2 separate locations.
If you have 2 Photographers already and then add in 2 Videographers, that’s 4 cameras following you around all day, which is hardly discrete and comfortable and completely against my ethos.

So how do you film discretely then?
Zoom lenses are my main secret weapon! It means I can stand far away and film you & your guests without them even realising.
The natural footage that comes from this style is the basis of all of my work.
Obviously during some parts I simply can’t disappear when I need to get an important shot, but where I can, I’ll blend in as much as possible.

What about Audio, will you be recording everything everyone says?
During your Ceremony & Speeches, I need to capture clean clear audio.
I’ll pop a little Mic usually on the Groom for the ceremony that will pick up your vows & ring exchange nicely.
For the speeches, usually a Mic on the table will do the job, but sometimes I may have to Mic up each person speaking depending on the room acoustics.
The cameras also capture ambient sound throughout the day but this only tends to be used for things like cheering/applause etc.

Do you need to be fed?
I’d never say no to a free meal, it’s a long day and we usually eat when you do, but it’s not something I require in my contract either.
I’ve been treated as a guest on the table plan before with a 4 course meal & wine, I’ve had a bar tab to spend on a meal of my choice quite a few times, and many venues offer “Supplier Meals” which are an inexpensive option compared to a full 3 course meal. It’s best to ask your venue what they usually do.
Most Weddings will see me on my feet for 10-12hrs and a soggy sandwich in the car doesn’t usually go down too well. So if no food is available I will have to escape to get something from a shop/restaurant/take away during your sit down meal. I don’t like leaving the venue just in case I miss anything but I’ll need some energy to get me to the First dance!

What areas do you cover?
I’m based between Birmingham & Worcestershire in Halesowen, West Midlands which puts me in easy reach of the Midlands, but I love new venues so travelling further afield is also welcomed!
I’ve also had the pleasure to film destination weddings abroad so if you would like me to film yours I’d love to hear from you.

How long does it take to edit my film?
I put 50+ hours into editing each wedding film after filming your day.
The editing process is by far the most time consuming part and I’m not going to let a film go until I’m happy that it “works” and is as good as it can be.
Weddings are also quite seasonal, so we film lots in the summer and less in the winter. Filming 2-3 a week in peak season creates a backlog of edits, so 8-12 weeks is the timescale I give, although many are delivered well before that.
The industry standard is 4-6 months but I only take on a certain number of bookings so that I don’t build up a huge queue of edits.

Do we need a meet-up beforehand?
For my side of things, no, it’s not something I need to be able to do my job properly and not something I build into my prices either.
It’s a great idea to meet up with your Photographer as they’ll be doing a lot of communicating with you and your guests throughout your day.
But with me, I won’t be posing you or your guests, I won’t actually be doing much talking at all as I don’t want to be on your film audio.

Don’t worry though, we’ll discuss lots beforehand to make sure we know what to expect from each other and how things will go.
I’m friendly, easy going and won’t make anyone feel uncomfortable on the day 🙂
